Australian Crawl – Hoochie Gucci Fiorucci Mama

Australian Crawl were the first band I ever saw live in concert. At the Princess Theatre in Launceston and hardly a decent venue for a live band. No idea of the year although probably around 1982. Another epic Australian band with a heap of songs. Just a pity they were impossible to sing along to if you hadn’t read the words because James Reyne is difficult to understand sometimes. This one is pretty easy though.

The Angels – Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again

You are not an Australia child of the 70 and 80s if you don’t know this song. Bonus points if you know the words to the alternate version that you have to scream at the top of your lungs when you hear this song in public. Was lucky enough to see them in Launceston back when Doc Neeson had a broken leg or similar. He sat in a dentist’s chair for the whole concert. I loved it. Play it loud and often. The Amazon version is an accoustic version of the band Doc Neeson’s Angels rather than the original band.

Generation X – Kiss Me Deadly

Billy Idol is a legend and whilst I never knew Generation X when they were around I was aware that was the band he was from before going solo. Who knows, maybe that’s why I went blonde for a while.

1927 – That’s When I Think Of You

Just a good Australian band that had a good album and then seemed to disappear into obscurity. A pity really. They did pop up again for an 80s revival tour with a few other artists and I managed to see them it concert. Cool to hear the songs again.

Bad Religion – New America – Live

Further evidence that getting your music on a television show might help your sales. First heard this one at the intro on an episode of Beverly Hills 90210. I had no idea who it was so the usual internet search after grabbing a line or two from the song. Along with IMDB, song lyrics websites make it so easy to find stuff.
