Not a big fan of Peter Gabriel although there are a couple of his songs I really love. First heard this one on the Woodstock 94 soundtrack. Another thought provoking song about apartheid in South Africa.

This is one of the songs where you can’t help really listening to the lyrics and following the story. I read somewhere it was about his sister and brother-in-law. Or did he tell that as a story in the song intro at one of the numerous DVDs I have.

Such a depressing song and yet such a good song. R.E.M. have so many great songs and it’s difficult to pick one of their best. If forced to, this may be the one. The DVD of this concert is also available which also brings back memories of fun times.

If you are wondering where you might have heard the song before, think back to the film Rain Man with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. That version was by The Belle Stars
