This version was at the Grammys in 2001 (I think) and from what I have read, was partially put together because of the issues Eminem was perceived to have with gay people. Elton John sings the other part which was originally a Dido song. Bit weird that they didn’t ask her, however, it wouldn’t have fit in with what they were trying to achieve I guess.
A classic Australian band with a surprisingly large following. Just mention songs like this one or Under The Milky Way and people will nod their heads. Just a bit weird that they never seems to have the huge commercial success like INXS or other bands.
Catatonia was one of those bands where I knew the songs, however, they were never on the must buy list. After I bought a Jools Holland DVD with one of their songs on it I went out and bought a greatest hits CD. It has now been on heavy rotation for years.
This one’s for you Lew Ashby because “life’s to fuckin’ boring not to try.” Sheryl Crow has done lots of covers and I usually like them. Didn’t know much about this song other than I liked it when I heard this version whilst watching an episode from season two of Californication. I really liked the Lew Ashby character. Kind of liked his house and lifestyle too.
Originally a The Who song and also covered by Limp Bizkit as a dedication to the girl who was killed at one of their concerts.
What can I say about this song? Even my mother liked this one, along with Patience, although I did have to convince her than she probably wouldn’t like the rest of their songs. If you don’t recognise this song from the first two notes then I guess you aren’t a true fan. Plus you have to get the side to side swaying going to really appreciate it.
